Why Access to Capacity Information Matters

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has noted that as EV adoption grows, the demand for charging infrastructure will increase significantly. EV charging providers and other commercial customers need real-time capacity insights to determine where new charging stations and electrical loads can be accommodated without requiring major system upgrades or identifying when a system upgrade is required.

By offering a clear view of available capacity at substations and feeders, Milton Hydro’s Capacity Map:
Speeds up site selection – Identify optimal locations for EV charging stations, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and other projects.
Reduces preliminary inquiries – Save time by accessing critical electrical load information upfront.
Supports strategic growth – Plan investments with confidence, knowing where capacity is available.
Enhances customer service – Minimize delays and increase opportunities for meaningful conversations about project planning.

A Smarter, More Transparent Approach

Previously, capacity information was only available by request. Now, with this interactive tool, we’re making it easier than ever for customers to evaluate potential sites, prioritize investments, and contribute to a more efficient, sustainable energy future.

Explore the Milton Hydro Capacity Map today and take control of your energy planning! You’ll find the map in our New Service and Service Upgrade Process pages for both Residential and Business customers, as well as on our Energy Conservation – Tips and Tricks for Electric Vehicle Charging page.
