Seeking qualified applicants for the Board of Directors of Milton Hydro

Milton Hydro Board of Directors Vacancies
Milton Hydro is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Board of Directors of Milton Hydro Distribution Inc.(MHDI) and Milton Energy and Generation Solutions Inc. (MEGS). The Board’s goal is to increase diversity and inclusive representation on the Board while ensuring the required mix of knowledge, skills and experience are fulfilled. Two vacancies are available for a four-year term each.

Qualifications and Prerequisites are as follows:
Candidates must be Canadian citizens who have an understanding and/or familiarity with the existing operations of Milton Hydro and the Town of Milton; who can commit to regular attendance at scheduled and ad-hoc meetings, typically held during normal business hours. The applicant must possess a reputation for personal honesty, objectiveness, integrity, common sense, strong interpersonal skills with a questioning/inquiring mind and be able to make sound independent judgements. Preference will be given to residents of Milton and someone who works for a business operating in Milton.  Additionally, the Board has identified a particular need for recruiting an individual with professional financial and accounting expertise. Please highlight related experience within your submission.  Candidates should have executive level experience preferably with corporations whose annual revenues exceed $10M.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

  1. Prior board membership (in “for profit” organizations) especially those demonstrating best practises for corporate governance
  2. Ability to focus on strategic initiatives and visionary planning of corporate operations and safety, including risk management
  3. Demonstrated continuous improvement in business segments including excellence in customer service.
  4. Proven Champion of change management within a competitive environment.
  5. Related knowledge and experience in any of the following;
    • Knowledge of corporate governance
    • Finance, accounting, legal, engineering or human resources
    • Government regulations and regulated entities
    • Environment and energy conservation
    • Understanding of business development including project and business start up, marketing, product development and communications
    • Business management
    • Background in large system operations and management
    • Experience with employee union relations and workplace health and safety
    • Experience with consumer relations
    • Business to business sales and marketing
    • Branding and digital experience
    • Experience or knowledge in sustainability, renewable energy, solar power projects and businesses
