A Message from Milton Hydro’s President & CEO:

We wanted to provide you with an update regarding Milton Hydro’s continued response to COVID-19 (“coronavirus”), and our commitment to you moving forward. The health, safety and well-being of our employees and customers shall always be our priority.

First and Foremost, we want to assure you that we will do everything possible to keep your lights on!

  • On March 17, 2020, the Government of Ontario declared a state of emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) to help fight the spread of COVID-19. Premier Doug Ford announced that effective March 25, he was ordering the closure of at-risk workplaces to protect health and safety.

  • On March 23, 2020, the Government of Ontario announced that electricity distributors, like Milton Hydro, are considered “Essential Workplaces”.  Milton Hydro’s employees, contractors and suppliers are diligently working to keep the power on for residential and essential commercial/industrial customers. The designation as an “Essential Workplace” allows utilities to continue to staff and structure their operations to ensure service continuity.  Please note:  Milton Hydro’s office will remain closed to the public.

  • On March 24, 2020, in response to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Government of Ontario issued an Emergency Order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. As a result, starting with consumption on March 24, 2020, residential and small business customers on time-of-use (TOU) pricing will pay 10.1 ¢/kWh no matter what time of day the electricity is consumed. This means that TOU customers will be paying the “off-peak” price throughout the day as long as the Emergency Order remains in place. The Government has indicated that it intends to keep the 10.1 ¢/kWh pricing in place for 45 days (May 7, 2020). The 10.1 ¢/kWh pricing applies automatically – no customer action is required. For more information please visit the Ontario Energy Board website at oeb.ca.

  • During these uncertain times, we want to ensure that customers have peace of mind and know that their service will not be disconnected.  We have suspended residential and small business customers from electricity disconnections until July 31, 2020.

  • As reported to you on March 13th, to ensure you receive your bill, Milton Hydro has moved customers to paperless billing where we have an active email address.  For those customers who have not provided an email address, we ask that you access your myAccount at www.miltonhydro.com/login  to set up or change your details; alternatively you can contact our customer service department during normal business hours to provide updated contact information via 905-876-4611 or email us at customerservice@miltonhydro.com.

As you can appreciate, this situation is evolving at a rapid pace and we must work together to help keep our communities as healthy and safe as possible. Let’s continue to support each other as we work through these challenging times together. We will continue to monitor and provide ongoing updates as needed.   It is important for all of us to remain diligent as we all attempt to protect the health of our community.  We appreciate your assistance and cooperation in managing exposure to this virus, during these unprecedented times.

Thank You,

Frank Lasowski, President & CEO
